Essential reading for the audio designer!

Without a doubt, Douglas Self's articles in EW&WW magazine are among the most thorough and insightful writings on power amplifier design. This book brings together some of the best technical articles on power amp design in one handy reference. Whether or not you agree with his opinions, if you are serious about audio amplifier design, you owe it to yourself to have at least one copy of Mr. Self's work in your library.
As many before me have stated, Self's articles on "Distortion in Power Amplifiers" are essential reading for any power amp designer. "Self on Audio" contains the complete series of these articles, in addition to a wealth of other excellent articles taken from EW&WW over the years, making this book an indispensible reference. Highly recommended!

Good Book - Bad printing

I originally read this book at the library and it was excellent. On the copy that I received from Amazon I could not read the values of the components in the schematics on pages 280, and 306-307. These are schematics of complete amplifiers that you can build. The quality of the printing has gone south. I am sure that Doug Self would send me good copies of these pages if I had a way of contacting him.

Errors

This is an amazing book. I used it for one of my chemical engineering classes and we used it to design an aspirin factory on paper (at least all of the calculations). It has all of the basic ideal formulas and conversion factors as well which makes it useful for other classes. However it does have a few errors, mainly typos in some spots, just not enough to really mess anything up.

Chem E, here I come!

Great book, I originally bought it as a requirement for a class, but I plan on keeping it even after the class. Concepts are explained really well and practice exercises are extremely helpful. There are some errors, but only in spelling and grammar, nothing in the conversions or that affects the learning experience in an adverse way. Reading and going through this book has made me super excited to become a chemical engineer!

Love the Weekly To Do Pages

I took this book out of the library because it tells what to do each week in your garden all year long (I'm a new gardener). When I had to return it to the library, I felt lost without it, so I bought it. I recommend this for new gardeners who live in New England.
